Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty is known for films like Disco Dancer, Kasam Padanwale Ki, Agneepath, Pyaar Jhukta Nahi and others. Mithun Da was recently honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the National Film Awards 2024. He gave an inspiring speech at the ceremony recalling his journey. Legendary actress Sharmila Tagore shared that after Dadasaheb Phalke’s victory speech, she went up to Mithun and hugged him. Tagore said that he ‘really made the show’.

Sharmila Tagore appreciated Mithun Chakraborty’s speech after President Draupadi Murmu honored him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the National Film Awards ceremony. Sharmila shared that Mithun da “deserved” the prestigious award.

The Gulmohar actress described his speech as “amazing”, adding that he gave a very good speech at the ceremony. The Aradhana star told ANI, “I just sat down and hugged him because he really inspired me. And it was straight from the heart and from his lived experience. He really made the show.”

Let us tell you, Tagore had worked with Mithun Da in the 1981 Bengali film Kalankini Kankabati.

In his victory speech at the ceremony, Mithun Chakraborty talked about the challenges he faced in his early career in the Hindi film industry. Mithun Da recalled that he was teased for his skin color and was asked to leave.

However, the 74-year-old actor has not looked back and made his mark in dance. The Disco Dancer star recalled that the audience forgot about his skin color and he became a “sexy, dark Bengali babu”.

Meanwhile, Sharmila Tagore attended the 70th National Film Awards event to cheer for the Gulmohar team. She played the role of a matriarch in the film. Gulmohar received three awards including Best Hindi Feature Film and Best Dialogues. Actor Manoj Bajpayee received a Special Mention award for his performance in Rahul V Chittela’s direction.

Mithun Chakraborty started his career with Mrinal Sen’s 1976 film Mrigaya, for which he received his first National Award at that time. Mithun has also worked in films like Golmaal 3, Oh My God, Housefull 2, The Tashkent Files, Khiladi 786 and The Kashmir Files.
