Actress Nargis Fakhri, whose sister Aliya Fakhri is facing murder charges in the US related to the fatal fire at her ex-boyfriend’s home, has said she has “nothing to clarify” about the situation. Recent reports from India Today indicate that the Rockstar fame has confirmed that he has had no contact with his sister for over two decades and like the rest of the public, it is only through news that he came to know about the incident. I found out.
Prosecutors claim that Aliya Fakhri, 43, intentionally set a fire in a detached garage in Queens on November 23, 2024, resulting in the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Edward Jacobs, and her friend, 33-year-old Anastasia Etienne.
According to the allegations, Fakhri committed the arson after Jacobs rejected Jacobs’ attempts to restart their relationship. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree m**d, four counts of second-degree m**d and arson. According to the Queens District Attorney’s Office, his next court appearance is scheduled for December 9, 2024.
The indictment claims Fakhri arrived at the property at 6:20 a.m. before setting the fire, yelling, “You’re all going to die today.”
Nargis Fakhri’s mother expressed shock at her daughter’s involvement in the fatal incident, telling the New York Daily News, “I don’t think she would kill anyone. She was always a caring person.”
She mentioned that her daughter, the accused, was always caring for others and tried to help everyone. However, she also admitted that Aaliyah struggled with opioid addiction after a dental accident, which she believes may have contributed to her daughter’s changed behavior.
District Attorney Melinda Katz said the defendant “maliciously” killed two people by setting a fire that left a man and a woman trapped in the massive blaze.
He further said that the victims tragically died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Following her arrest, Aliya Fakhri was denied bail during her appearance in Queens Criminal Court.
Aliya Fakhri is currently being held at Rikers Island, New York City’s largest detention facility, and has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted of the most serious charge, he could face life in prison.
