Nargis Fakhri made her Bollywood debut opposite Ranbir Kapoor in his 2011 film Rockstar. Nargis played the role of Heer Kaul in the Kapoor-starrer musical romantic drama. During an interview with Mid-Day, Imtiaz Ali talked about casting Nargis Fakhri in his directorial venture Rockstar. Imtiaz shared that he wanted his Heer to look like someone who is a ‘heartbreak machine’ and someone you can only aspire to.
The Rockstar director said, “This girl, who is very classy. Even out of Ranbir Kapoor’s league. I was thinking it’s the face, it’s the body and she gave an amazing performance.”
Meanwhile, Nargis Fakhri once revealed that she did not know Ranbir Kapoor before being cast in Rockstar. Last year, while talking to Bollywood Hungama, Nargis had said that she was quite innocent and did not know anything about anyone (from the film). The Rockstar actress further said that she did not do any research as it was not her goal.
Nargis further said that she came to India as a “regular person who wanted to try a new thing”.
Nargis Fakhri played the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s love interest in Rockstar. While Ranbir played the role of JJ (Janardan Jakhar), a Delhi boy studying in Hindu College, Delhi University, who aspires to become a musician. Nargis was cast as Heer Kaul, a beautiful girl from St. Stephen’s College.
The film also featured Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra and late veteran actor Shammi Kapoor in important roles.
On the work front, Nargis Fakhri has worked in films like Main Tera Hero, Housefull 3, Madras Cafe, Torbaaz, Amavas and others. He has made special appearances in films like Kick, Phata Poster Nikla Hero and others.
Nargis has returned to the Housefull franchise. She will be seen in Sajid Nadiadwala’s upcoming production Housefull 5. Akshay Kumar will be in the lead role in the comedy film.
