Mrunal Thakur on battling self-doubt, insecurity: I feel confident at times
Mrunal Thakur opens up about dealing with self-confidence despite her success. She described herself as a work in progress as she is constantly evolving.

Actor Mrunal Thakur recently talked about dealing with confidence, choosing meaningful roles and the ongoing balance between content-driven cinema and commercial success.
Despite giving many memorable performances and carving a niche for herself, Thakur admits that she still struggles with self-doubt. talking to India Today Specifically, she said, “Yes, I feel less confident sometimes. I don’t know why. I don’t really want to know. And honestly, sometimes people tell me that you underestimate your skills or yourself. But I don’t know, it’s something I’m working on. I feel less confident with myself, and it bothers me. But even today, it took a lot of courage for me to admit it. Despite admitting these insecurities, the actress remains deeply ambitious about her art. She added, “At the same time, that’s all I want. I mean, I’m so happy today. I just want to enjoy, discover and be recognized as one of the best artists of today’s generation. That’s my dream. Also, I need to prove it in terms of commercial success. There are a lot of things I need to prove.”
Thakur also addressed the ongoing debate over box office versus content-driven cinema, especially in the context of his recent work with Siddhant Chaturvedi.
Speaking about professional success Mrunal said, “Look, the kind of roles I choose The last film I did was with Siddhant ChaturvediWe were just talking about it – it’s a scary place. Because the kind of films we want to do beats 2Focus on a particular issue, but that doesn’t necessarily give them the commercial success they deserve.’
She further added, “So sometimes you have to be very careful about the roles you choose. I would choose a role only because I liked the role. I never chose a film or a character because other people might want me to.”
Describing herself as a work in progress, Thakur said, “I am in a stage where I am just discovering myself, evolving, and making mistakes as well. I am just taking one day at a time. I want to work with filmmakers who bring out the best in me. I want to work with filmmakers who tell authentic stories and present me not exclusively as a heroine, but as a character. Without which the film cannot move forward.”
Mrunal concluded, “Because in the long run, I want to work till the last breath of my life. That’s what matters. The pressure of being number one, the pressure of being in that rat race, it doesn’t matter.”
