Motorola Edge 50 Ultra will be launched in India soon. The company has confirmed the news through its official social media handle X. This will be an ultra-premium smartphone from Motorola with a real wood back panel. The device was recently made available in global markets and is now coming to India, which is surprising as Motorola hardly sells its Ultra model in this country.

The company has not yet revealed the launch date of the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra but has announced that it is coming soon. It has already unveiled the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in India, priced at Rs 31,999. It is a mid-range device and the features offered justify its price. The Ultra model is likely to be priced significantly higher as it comes with better specs.

In the global market, the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip. It is capable of delivering almost the same performance as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Poco F6, priced at Rs 29,999, is the first phone in India to feature the same chip and has proven to be a good performer.

The Ultra model features a 6.7-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Furthermore, it has an IP68 rating for water resistance and supports 50W wireless charging, which is up to the standards expected from a flagship device in 2024. There is also support for 125W wired charging. Under the hood, you will find a 4,500mAh battery unit.

For photography, there is a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support at the back. This is accompanied by a 64-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS and a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens that also acts as a macro lens. The device runs on Android 14 OS and its Snapdragon chip is supported by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage solution.

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra was announced in Europe at EUR 999, which is approximately Rs 88,870 when converted to Indian currency. Of course, the device is not expected to be priced this high in India as Android flagship phones in the same price range come with the faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. Therefore, it would not be wise for Motorola to launch the Edge 50 Ultra in this price range.

Considering the premium features, the device is expected to be priced between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000. If the device is priced around Rs 50,000, it will likely be seen competing with the iQOO 12, which is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In the Rs 40,000 range, there are phones like the OnePlus 12R, iQOO Neo 9 Pro, and others. It remains to be seen how Motorola will price its new Edge 50 Ultra smartphone and convince users to buy it over other solid offerings.
