Facing widespread criticism, many believed that their resignation was a reaction to public pressure. However, the actor rejected the notion. “I had to face a lot of criticism. Suddenly, we became enemies for many people. But resignations were not due to criticism. I resigned when I felt that it was time to put a full break,” he clarified. He also hoped that those who remove themselves from the organization can return one day.

Mohanlal’s departure led to the disintegration of the entire Amma Committee, marking a major leadership infection. He explained that his decision was a natural step and not a personal shock. He pointed to the choice of Shweta Menon as a positive development, indicating a new chapter for the association, as a positive development.

After serving as AMMA president since 2018, Mohanlal was designed to contest again for a tenure of 2024-27, but did not choose to run. Their move is seen as part of the widespread effort to bring the new leadership into the organization.

Despite the unrest, Mohanlal’s film career remains strong. He gave the successes of the box office with ‘L2: Empuraan’ and ‘Thudarum’. His latest release, ‘Hridaypurvam’, confirmed his standing in the industry, crossed a mark of Rs 50 crore.
