Mohanlal and Priyadarshan have been friends and long-time collaborators for decades, having given some of the most iconic films in Malayalam cinema. Their collaboration has significantly influenced the popular culture of Keralites. Now, the superstar and the director are coming together once again for what will be Priyadarshan’s 100th film.
Mohanlal officially announces reunion with director Priyadarshan
On its official social media handles, Mohanlal Shared an update about his next project, which marks Priyadarshan’s 100th venture in cinema. Announcing the project, the actor wrote, “Some milestones don’t belong to one person alone. They belong to all who stood close enough to witness the journey.”
Lalettan further added, “My dearest Priyan is stepping into his 100th film, and I don’t have the words to explain what it truly means to me. One hundred films is not just a number; it represents a lifetime of stories told with passion, countless mornings inspired by faith in the magic of cinema and a journey of unwavering dedication that I have had the privilege of witnessing up close.”
Mohanlal further said that the historical film is being brought to life by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas, with Binu George Alexander serving as co-producer. The superstar said that he is extremely honored to be a part of this journey and some moments are not meant to be described, but only to be felt and cherished with gratitude.

In the shared video, Priyadarshan He expressed how grateful he felt to work with Mohanlal in his 100th film. The Oppam director said, “My first film, as well as the first script I wrote, had Mohanlal in the lead. Now, my 100th film will also have Lal in the lead, which is rarer than a blue moon.”
Previously, Mohanlal and Priyadarshan teamed up for Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham (Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea), an epic historical drama that was released in 2021.
Mohanlal’s work front
Mohanlal will be next seen on the big screen scene 3Directed by Jeetu Joseph. The crime thriller is scheduled to release on April 2, 2026, however it is rumored to be postponed due to unavailability of release slots in GCC countries.
Leighton is currently filming his next project, tentatively titled L366, directed by Tharun Murthy, co-starring Meera Jasmine. The film is expected to release during the Puja holidays this year.
Additionally, the superstar will play cameo roles in Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Khalifa: Part 1, and his daughter Vismaya in Mohanlal’s debut film, Thudakkam.
