Actress Mimi Chakraborty receives rape threats after sharing post on Kolkata case
Former Trinamool Congress member and actress Mimi Chakraborty on August 20 said she was receiving obscene messages and rape threats after sharing a protest post about the Kolkata rape-murder case.
Former Trinamool Congress member and actress Mimi Chakraborty on Tuesday, August 20, revealed that she has been receiving rape threats and obscene messages after posting a protest regarding the Kolkata rape-murder case. Mimi also tagged the Kolkata Police’s cyber cell department.
Mimi wrote, “And we are demanding justice for women, right? These are just a few of them. Where rape threats have been normalised by toxic men masking themselves in the crowd who say they stand with women. What upbringing and education allows this???? (sic).”

The actor had personally participated in a protest against the rape and murder of the said doctor in Kolkata. Apart from Mimi, actors like Riddhi Sen, Arindam Sil and Madhumita Sarkar also took part in the protest held on the night of August 14.
Mimi Chakraborty was a Member of Parliament (MP) from Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency (2019 – 2024).
