Milind Soman swam across the Strait of Gibraltar from Tarifa, Spain, to the Moroccan coast on May 1. He shared the experience with fans on social media.
Actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman has gone viral after sharing an update about his latest feat of swimming in open water across the Strait of Gibraltar from Europe to Africa.
In an Instagram post, Soman said he swam from Europe to Africa, covering the distance between Tarifa in Spain and the Moroccan coast, a route that is about 15 kilometers at its narrowest point.

Sharing the update, the 60-year-old wrote, “On May 1st, I swam from Europe to Africa, across the Strait of Gibraltar, 15km at the closest point, from Tarifa, Spain to the coast of Morocco (smiling emoji) beautiful beautiful beautiful swim!! Long post coming (smiling emoji) (sic).”
The post quickly gained popularity online and garnered many reactions from users.

Not all reactions were purely celebratory. One comment raised a broader social question, saying, “What if a woman stood naked with that flag? How big of a deal would you guys think it is? The world is a weird place, a man gets appreciated for anything, while a woman is scrutinized for the smallest of actions.”
