As die-hard Madhavan fans, we all know about his 2011 Bollywood film Tanu Weds Manu, directed by Aanand L Rai. According to a News18 article, the producer of this comedy-drama film shared in an interview that he approached several actresses before approaching Kangana Ranaut for the lead role. Surprisingly, none of them accepted the offer as they were not interested in collaborating with Madhavan.
During his closing speech, he mentioned that some actresses even went as far as to say that they would only accept the role if the lead actor was replaced. This caused quite a stir, and loyal fans of the actor retaliated against several unnamed actresses from the industry.
When R Madhavan was afraid that he would not get work anymore
During an interview session with Film Companion, Madhavan who has done all kinds of roles in almost seven industries shared an interesting story as to why he was not getting any offers. The actor said, “I have a son. There was Covid. I didn’t earn anything during Covid. Even two years before Covid, I didn’t earn anything because I was working on this film.”
Madhavan further added, “The only thing that kept me going were the occasional opportunities like my OTT projects to keep things going.”
The actor concluded by saying, “Also, I haven’t done any other film since my last film Vikram Vedha. So, there is fear, constant fear.”
Let us tell you that R Madhavan made his OTT debut with Prime Video’s crime-thriller Breathe Season 1, and later worked with Rana Naidu actress Surveen Chawla in Netflix’s comedy-drama Decapitated.

His upcoming film project is a sports drama titled Test, which stars Siddharth and Nayanthara in pivotal roles. S. Sashikanth has directed the project, which is financed by S. Sashikanth himself along with Chakravarthy Ramachandra under the banner of YNOT Studios and will be a pan-India release.
