Akshaye Khanna, an iconic name in Indian cinema, has worked with some of the biggest stars and renowned filmmakers during his career. Despite working with industry stalwarts and appearing in several high-profile projects, Khanna’s filmography is marked by critical acclaim rather than commercial success. He is the youngest son of late Bollywood star Vinod Khanna and Geetanjali.
Khanna, who began his career in the mid-90s, soon established himself as a versatile actor with a strong screen presence. His breakthrough came with Himalay Putra and soon he became known for his impressive performances in films like Border, LOC: Kargil and Humraaz.
Over the years, Khanna has worked alongside notable names such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan in Dil Chahta Hai, further cementing her place in the industry.
Despite her talent and high-profile collaborations, Khanna’s films struggled to achieve significant commercial success. Hits such as Taal (1999) and Race (2008) showcased her acting prowess alongside Saif Ali Khan, but were not successful for her personally. Her performances in Hulchul, 36 China Town, Hungama and Aaja Nachle were commercially acclaimed and garnered her considerable fame, but did not receive the critical acclaim she deserved.
In 2019, Khanna received immense praise for his role in the film Section 375. Following this, he appeared in several entertaining films and roles. However, his performance in Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 really cemented his position as an actor. His role of an IPS officer received widespread praise from fans.
Khanna will next be seen sharing the screen with Vicky Kaushal in the historical drama film ‘Chava’. The teaser reveals that he will play the villain in the film, which is scheduled to release on December 6, 2024.
