Bulgaria’s 19-year-old Royal Prince Simeon set a record when he decided to step away from the luxury of his Sofia palace and enroll in a Shaolin Kung Fu residential class in China. Her mother, Princess Kalina of Bulgaria, is world famous for her athletic body transformation. Turns out, the prince is also fond of physical training. Before focusing on kung fu, Prince Simeon trained extensively in Taekwondo in South Korea.According to Hola, the prince went to Mount Song in Henan province in November and now, after completing initial training, he received his Chinese name: Si Miao Tian, which translates as ‘Great Disciple of the Buddha of the Glorious Heaven’. The school said Prine Simeon is the only Western student they have. The school said, “After passing the exam, what brought him the most joy was being accepted as a disciple by the great master Wang Hengying in an official ceremony. This was a huge thing for Shimon. Master Wang Hengying, who is dedicated to spreading and promoting traditional Chinese martial arts culture, has been guiding and training him.”The prince’s routine in school was rigorous. He woke up at five in the morning to follow a rigorous training schedule of eight to ten hours a day and followed the same daily routine as all other students. After passing the examination, he received his first diploma from the hands of the great master Wang Hengying. He remained without phone for two months. He could call his parents only when he reached school and before his stay was over.A typical day in the life of Prince Simeon in China began with a 5 a.m. run through nature. These run breaks continued throughout the day as they practiced kung fu for 8-10 hours a day leading up to the date. The school said the only exception they made for Prince was to allow him to be with the instructors, but this was not because he is a Prince but because Prince was facing a language barrier with his classmates. So officials let Prince Simeon live in an impressive 58,000-square-meter compound near the city of Dengfeng in Henan province, and sleep in the quanshi building with the instructors.
