Bollywood actress Meenakshi Seshadri, who is looking forward to making a comeback in the Hindi film industry, shared her experience about why male actors have to stay in the industry longer than their female counterparts. In a recent interview, she said that not having to take care of household chores as well as not having to worry about pregnancy and raising children helps her focus more on work.

Meenakshi Seshadri made her debut in Hindi films in the 1980s and has worked with superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Anil Kapoor and Shatrughan Sinha. She was recently asked what she thinks helps male actors work for more years than female actors in Bollywood.

he told lehren retro“There are many reasons why male actors stay in the industry for a long time. Even with the generation of Dharmendra, Jeetendra and Amitabh Bachchan, they are still in the field. The second reason is that men are not really the ones to do household chores. So they can devote themselves completely to their careers. The third reason is that they don’t have to worry about childbirth, pregnancy or raising children. All this becomes the woman’s responsibility. So, you see, that’s why these heroes are still going strong.”

He added, “And, of course, people still like them. That’s the most important factor.”

Meenakshi Shashadri left the film industry in 1996 to focus on her personal life and settled in the US. She was one of the most popular actors in the Hindi film industry in the 80s and 90s. After almost 27 years, she is eager to make a comeback.
