Maulvi involved in talks with Pakistan Taliban shot dead

On Tuesday, two bike-borne shooters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa killed cleric Maulana Muhammad Idris, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, who was in peace talks with the insurgent group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. Rajshekhar Jha’s report.Islamic State in Khorasan province claimed responsibility for the killing, which comes amid killings of JUI-F leaders in KP and Balochistan. Idress, a former provincial MLA from Charsadda, was shot dead while he was going to Darul Uloom Utmanzai. The killing has also focused attention on the cleric’s past differences with Field Marshal Asim Munir.
