Masti 4 box office opening weekend: Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani’s adult comedy earns Rs 7 crore in 3 days

The latest installment of the popular adult-comedy franchise, Masti 4, failed to garner the expected traction in its opening weekend. The film starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani could only collect Rs 7 crore in its three-day theatrical run. 2.50 crores are coming on Sunday. The film recorded a slow growth on Sunday, which is a matter of concern for the makers as the opening itself was very low.

Being a franchise film, Masti 4 needed to do well in the opening weekend to have a respectable finish. However, that doesn’t happen, which means the fate of Masti 4 is now almost sealed. There is no room for adult comedy to grow by word of mouth, as the reception itself has not been very favorable.

Directed by Milan Milap Zaveri, Masti 4 competes with Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur and Vijay Verma’s Gustakh Ishq. The adult comedy remained similar to 120 Bahadur on the opening day, but fell flat on the second day with no signs of growth, resulting in 120 Bahadur taking the lead by the end of the weekend.

The genre did well in the early 2010s, with 2013 seeing the peak of this franchise with Grand Masti. However, with the advent of cheap mobile internet in the mid-2010s, the genre saw a major decline as the same content became readily available to its target audience, which was not the case before. The third film of the Masti franchise had a bad ending. Now, the disappointing performance of the fourth installment at the box office may prove to be the last nail in the coffin.

The box office collection of Masti 4 in India is as follows:

Day net
Friday Rupee. 2.25 crores.
Saturday Rupee. 2.25 crores.
sunday Rupee. 2.50 crores.
Total Rupee. 7.00 crores.
