Despite geopolitical challenges, midcaps are performing well on expectations of strong corporate earnings, supported by business updates on a demand-led basis, highlighted Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Investments. He noted that the segment’s elevated valuation compared to large caps warrants caution, with underlying business conditions expected to remain healthy at least through H1FY27.
“However, sustaining this momentum will require a normalization of the ongoing rise in input costs as demand growth may flatten in H2 FY27. Currently, the broader market is trading in a mixed range, reflecting the underperformance of large caps driven by moderate inflows in line with rising geopolitical prices and higher oil risks.
