Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Meenawala and starring Rani Mukerji in the lead alongside Janaki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad, recorded nominal growth on its fourth Tuesday. The film made Rs. 30 lakh in the tally, taking the total to Rs. Earning Rs 47.25 crore at the Indian box office.
Backed by Yash Raj Films, Mardaani 3 sold its entire theatrical run at around Rs. 50 crore nett domestically. This will be a good outcome for the film as with the rise of OTT in India, there has been a huge decline in the theatrical business in the post-pandemic era.
In fact, even big budget films starring A-listers are struggling to find audiences. In times like these, if a female-centric film manages to recover its production costs, it is a success.
Mardaani 3 has already overtaken the lifetime earnings of Mardaani 2. It is also the only female-led franchise in Hindi cinema, with Rani Mukerji at the helm.
