Two weeks ago, many people in the Northern Circuit would not have heard of Marco and Unni Mukundan. But how did things turn out and Marco became the talk of the town? Let’s take a look at its planned release strategy.
Marco received great response in Malayalam; Producers expand performance in Hindi
Starring Unni Mukundan in the lead role and directed by Hanif Adeni, Marco is now becoming a nationwide phenomenon. This action-thriller was released in Kerala without releasing the trailer. What attracted audiences to Marco is the violent nature of the film and the actor’s conviction. It had a solid opening at the Mollywood box office, leading to claims that it was India’s most violent film.
The mid-budget Malayalam film was released in Hindi in just 60 shows. This thing spread like wildfire and gradually it started gaining momentum. Furthermore, the poor performance of Baby John helped Marco to gain more shows in the Hindi belt. Currently this film is running in around 800 Hindi shows across the country.
Let us tell you, Marco collected Rs 1 lakh in Hindi on its opening day. Talking about the 10th day, it earned Rs 70 lakh. This is absolutely crazy! Looking at the ever-increasing demand and craving for this A-rated bloody action in the Hindi belt, it can be said that Marco will become a big phenomenon in Hindi. The best part is that Marco can make it big in the northern circuit with more exposure and promotion, as there are no important Bollywood releases till the Republic Day 2025 weekend.
Additionally, the film is also set to release in Tamil dubbed and Telugu dubbed languages, making it a pan-India event.
Marco follows the paths of Kantara; Target of completing Rs 100 crore
Marco was not planned as a pan-India release, but the great audience reception and solid marketing helped it expand into other languages. Earlier we have seen a similar case during the release of Kantara. The similarity between both the films is uniqueness. While the USP of Kantara was its mythological touch and hair-raising climax; Marco’s main attraction is his unapologetic, brutal, foxy action, which the Indians have never seen before.
The audience has gone crazy after watching Marco and are even comparing it to Animal and Kill, which were praised for their violent action sequences.
Marco has already emerged as a blockbuster at the box office. Currently earning Rs 70 crore, the film is poised to end its run with a worldwide box office collection of over Rs 100 crore.
