‘Manorathangal’: Mammootty, Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil in MT Vasudevan’s anthology
Directed by award-winning filmmaker MT Vasudevan Nair, the anthology series features nine films with a stellar cast. It will premiere on ZEE5 on August 15 in multiple languages.
The first trailer of the upcoming Malayalam anthology series ‘Manorathangal’ was released on the birthday of Jnanpith Award-winning author and screenwriter-director MT Vasudevan Nair. Written by Nair, the series features a stellar cast including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Kamal Haasan, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Madhu.
The trailer begins with actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan giving a glimpse of the legacy of renowned author MT. As the one minute 46 second trailer begins, viewers are shown excerpts from various parts of the series. These parts feature Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty and several actors including Fahadh Faasil.
It becomes evident in the promos that each story is unique, based in a different time period and location. While Mohanlal’s segment is presented in classic black-and-white, Mammootty’s segment appears to be a more intense affair.

‘Manorathangal’ is an anthology of nine different episodes based on Nair’s short stories. Priyadarshan is directing two episodes, while Shyamaprasad, Aswathy V Nair, Mahesh Narayanan, Ranjith, Santosh Sivan and Ratheesh Ambat are the other filmmakers.
Apart from Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil, Kamal Haasan, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Madhu, ‘Manorathangal’ also stars Biju Menon, Ishit Yamimi, Aparna Balamurali, Nadiya Moidu, Ann Augustine, Durga Krishna, Asif Ali, Indrajith Sukumaran, Indrans and Siddique.
It will release on August 15 on ZEE5 in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
