Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram has been booked by the Kochi City Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman. According to a report in The Indian Express, the police complaint states that the incident took place in an apartment in Kochi in 2022, where the director allegedly intruded into the complainant’s residence and harassed her.
Director Chidambaram accused of sexual harassment
According to the ongoing news, Director Chidambaram is accused of harassing a female actor in Kochi. Ernakulam Town South Police confirmed that the case was registered on March 2, 2026, after the actor lodged a complaint in Kochi. The incident reportedly took place in 2022 at an apartment in Kochi city, where the complainant alleged that the director had misbehaved with her.
The complaint details an incident of alleged sexual misconduct within a private residence, with the complainant claiming the director’s actions amounted to sexual harassment. The exact sequence of events complained of has not been disclosed, as the investigation is still in the early stages.
Police said that due procedure will be followed and the matter will be thoroughly investigated, after which further action will be taken. Although the complaint has been registered, the director has not yet issued any official statement on the matter.
Earlier in 2024, a popular influencer on Instagram had also alleged that director Chidambaram had sexually harassed her. The filmmaker and the influencer had previously worked together on the film Jaan-E-Mann.
Chidambaram’s work front
Director Chidambaram last directed the project Manjummel Boys. This survival thriller tells the story of a group of friends from a small area called Manjummel near Kochi, who decide to go on a holiday to Kodaikanal, which takes a tragic turn when one of them gets trapped in the Gunna caves. The film explores a real-life incident that occurred in the Guna Caves in 2006.
The film stars Saubin Shahir, Srinath Bhasi, Deepak Parambol, Balu Varghese, Ganpati S. The cast included Poduval, Lal Jr., Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian and others in lead roles.
Looking ahead, director Suriya is set to return to the screens with Balan based on the script of 47 director Jeetu Madhavan. The Malayalam film is financed by Jana Nayakan and Toxic producers KVN Productions.
