When asked if the success of the web series led to more work for him, the actor smiled and said, “No, not yet. There are some scripts and I can share something only when they are completed.

Manisha Koirala was speaking at the ‘Big Screen to Streaming’ session, where she was joined by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane. He also shared how people warned him against moving to OTT platforms, which he also experienced when he entered films.

“It always happens that people doubt and warn first and appreciate later. When I entered films 30 years ago, I too had a similar experience. People believed that the industry was full of bad people, and because yellow journalism was rampant, only negative news would be reported. So, no one wanted a daughter from a good family to live there,” she said.

The Khamoshi actor said that, however, the same people came back to him after his films Saudagar and others became successful. “The same people were clapping and saying how proud they were. But I think that happens with anything new or unknown, because of all the pre-conceptions and pre-judgments,” she said.

On a concluding note, Manisha Koirala said that however, she never had doubts about Hiramandi or the web space. She said, “I never had any doubts, not only because I am a fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but I also believed that streaming was a game-changer. This will be the best platform and will encourage many new filmmakers, writers and ideas. So, I really believed in the project and even the place.”

Heeramandi also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Sharmin Sehgal, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha. taha shahAnd Aditi Rao Hydari. Set against the backdrop of the Indian independence movement in the 1940s, the Netflix show chronicles the lives of women in the red-light district of Heera Mandi, Lahore.
