Vijay Sethupathi recently confirmed that he will be working on a new film with director Mani Ratnam, co-starring Sai Pallavi. Now it looks like musician Sai Abhyankar may replace him AR Rahman in the project, marking a deviation from the director’s usual practice.
Composer Sai Abhyankar to replace AR Rahman in Mani Ratnam’s next film?
According to a report by Valai Pechu, Director Mani Ratnam Music composer Sai is considering casting Abhyankar for his upcoming film. However, this is an unconfirmed report and has not received an official update yet.
If the reports prove to be true, Sai Abhyankar will become the third music composer to collaborate with the OK Kanmani director. Mani Ratnam initially worked with Ilaiyaraaja in his early films. Later, with the 1992 film Roja, he began his long-term collaboration with AR Rahman, which lasted for more than three decades.
Now it looks like filmmakers may break this trend. However, official confirmation is still awaited.
Earlier, Vijay Sethupathi had confirmed that he will be collaborating with Mani Ratnam and the film will star Sai Pallavi in the co-lead role, which will be his first project with the director.
The actor said that he had previously worked with Mani Ratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018) and said that this time they would do something completely different. Although not many details have been revealed about the project, reports suggest that it will be a romantic film.

Along with Trisha Krishnan in the co-lead role, the film also stars Indrans, Naty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, Anagha Maiya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy and Yogi Babu in lead roles. Additionally, RJ Balaji will play a cameo role in the film.
Looking ahead, the musician also has AA22xA6, D55 and other projects in its lineup.
