Prabhas starrer The Raja Saab is scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, coinciding with Sankranti this year. Ahead of its release, the co-lead, Malavika Mohanan, is actively involved in promotions. The Hridayapurvam actress recently revealed how she was initially in talks with Prashanth Neel for Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.
Malavika Mohanan reacts on once being in the news for Salaar but landing The Raja Saab with Prabhas
Speaking to Filmy Focus, Malavika Mohanan said, “A few months after Master released, I got a call saying that Prashant Neel sir is making a film with Prabhas sir and wanted to meet me. I went to Bengaluru, where Prashant sir himself took my pictures, not as a photoshoot, but just to see how I look in Indian attire and western attire.”
The actress further added, “Everything went well; everything was good. However, for some reason, it didn’t work out. I felt a little disappointed because not many people get a chance to act with a star like Prabhas. But after a few months, I got another call that it was for Prabhas’s film. I said, ‘I thought she had already been cast.’ Then they told me it was for another film. I think it was destiny that my debut was to be with Prabhas sir.
Additionally, Malavika shared that the role of Bhairavi in The Raja Saab is quite lively. He told that he had to do many cute sequences, funny scenes, some action and even songs. He also mentioned that director Maruthi used to joke that he gave him a complete portfolio showing him in multiple avatars in a single film.
