Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has a long list of films, each of which has its own fan following. Recently, the director spoke exclusively with IndiaToday.in about his latest project ‘Bloody Ishq’, which he has written. While discussing human emotions, we asked him about his life after becoming a grandfather. He acknowledged the changes in his life and also revealed which would be the first film he would like to show to his granddaughter Rhea Kapoor.

With a big smile, Mahesh Bhatt replied, “If you ask me, the film that I would want Rhea to see when she grows up and becomes a young girl, and is probably 16 years old, is Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin.”

This 1991 film starred Mahesh Bhatt’s elder daughter Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan in lead roles and is still loved by cinephiles.

Bhatt said, “It is one of the most heart-warming films in which Pooja was out of this world and Aamir was really good. It is a film that has resonance with the human heart. I think that is the kind of film that would be perfect for me (which I would choose first for him).”

When we reminded him that he also has ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’, a film that many youngsters have grown up watching, he said, “Oh yes, she is in it too. But that is a very different kind of love story.”

Mahesh Bhatt also spoke about how the arrival of Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s daughter Rhea in 2022 has changed his life. He revealed that he has started looking at the world from a different perspective and has noticed things that he would have otherwise overlooked. The Zakhm director also revealed that his perspective as a filmmaker changed when he first became a father and then a grandfather.

Bhatt got emotional and said, “I look at human stories in a different way, especially after becoming a grandfather. Honestly, I am still not over the wonder of my child and his amazing achievements. And motherhood has added a whole new dimension to it. Alia is not only a brilliant actress but also a wonderful mother. It is an alchemical transformation, and Rhea is like a gift from the sky, who came out of nowhere and surprised us all. If I am being completely honest, my eyes have shifted to the grandchild now. You start loving him a little more than your daughter. I think children have such a power that they draw you in completely.”

Written by Mahesh Bhatt and directed by Vikram Bhatt, Bloody Ishq is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
