Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli are all set to collaborate on a mega opus project. The film, tentatively titled SSMB29 or SSRMB, was exclusively reported by Pinkvilla to be released in two parts, with the first likely to arrive in 2027 and the second in 2029.
According to a report by Manobala Vijayabalan, the film is set to release in the mentioned years. Additionally, work on the film is expected to begin with the puja celebrations in January 2025. This magnum opus is expected to be made on a massive budget of Rs 1000 crore.
It was earlier reported that the film would be a “global feature” venture, with Mahesh Babu playing a character inspired by Lord Hanuman from Hindu mythology. The film is expected to be a globe-trotting adventure, with a host of international actors collaborating for a never-before-seen cinematic experience.
According to reports, Priyanka Chopra Jonas may also be in talks for the co-lead role in SSMB29, although the casting for the same has not been confirmed.
Mahesh Babu was last seen in the lead role in Trivikram Srinivas’s Guntur Karam. The film, the actor-director duo’s third collaboration after Athadu and Khaleeja, tells the story of a rebellious son trying to reconnect with his mother who abandoned him as a child.
The film also starred Sreeleela, Meenakshi Choudhary, Jayaram, Ramya Krishnan, Ishwari Rao, Prakash Raj and others in lead roles. However, it received overwhelming responses from both critics and audiences.
Mahesh Babu is all set to return to theaters soon as he has lent his voice to the Telugu-dubbed version of the Hollywood musical Mufasa: The Lion King. In the film that is ready for release, Mahesh will voice the lead character in Telugu, while Satyadev, Brahmanandam, Ali and Ayyappa P Sharma will voice the other lead roles. This will also mark the superstar’s first time playing a voice role.
