Madha Gaja Raja, directed by Sundar C and starring Vishal in the lead, is doing great at the Tamil box office. The much-delayed release turns out to be a sure-fire entertainer this Pongal.
Madha Gaj Raja witnesses the biggest day; Storm crosses Rs 20 crore mark in 4 days
Co-starring Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Santhanam, Madha Gaja Raja was not a regular Friday release. It was released on Sunday (January 12, 2025) where it took a stellar opening of Rs 3.20 crore. The action-comedy saw further growth on Monday and collected Rs 3.30 crore. It was Pongal day where it earned a whopping Rs 6.50 crore, which is 96% more than the previous day. According to estimates, the film has overtaken the Pongal Day collection on the fourth day today and has earned around Rs 7 crore.
The much-loved vintage commercial entertainer earned over Rs 20 crore in Tamil Nadu in just 4 days of its release. These are unimaginable figures for a 12-year-old shot movie, which was originally scheduled to hit screens in 2013.
Madha Gaja Raja becomes the biggest Pongal hit; Target of Rs 50 crore in home state
Madha Gaja Raja did not have much competition in his home state as Ajith Kumar’s Vidamuyarchi was postponed to a later date. However, apart from the Malayalam release, it also faces two Telugu giants, Game Changer and Daku Maharaj.
The film emerged as the top choice among Tamils during the festival. It will continue to attract audiences for a few weeks and will gross a total of Rs 40 crore during its entire run in Tamil Nadu. If the film does not become a hit in the upcoming releases, it has the potential to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in the state.
