Love is felt: Vir Das reacts to Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, criticizes those who criticize him
Actor-comedian Veer Das reacted to Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. He mixed humor with a clear message for the naysayers, saying that change can still be felt.
Actor-comedian Vir Das reacted to Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation from the post of Union Education Minister following nationwide protests. With re-posting a video from one of his old sets, Veer addressed those who say nothing can change in the country.
In an Instagram video reacting to the development, Vir urged people to celebrate as well as use this moment to respond to what he described as the familiar pessimism heard in offices, families, WhatsApp groups and circles of friends.

In the video, he said, “Now celebrate this quickly because you don’t know what is going to happen tomorrow. Something will happen.”
“In your office, in your family, on your WhatsApp group, in your circle of friends, there will always be someone who will say ‘Nothing will happen’ ‘But in India’ ‘That’s what happens’.” He then added, “That’s what happens. To that person. Please shut up. Just shut up. Just for today.”
After Pradhan’s resignation, Veer also posted several messages on X. He wrote, “Friends!!!! (sic)”
In another post, he joked, “Tonight at 9pm on your TV screen. Multiple versions of ‘You know what we’ve been saying here at ______’ forever.”
“I hope you like pancakes, you’re gonna see a lot of flipping (sic),” the actor said in another post.

Sharing a clip from one of his sets, Veer wrote, “Hate is shouted, love is felt.”
In the video, he said, “You realize that hate is shouted, while love is felt,” and added, “And have faith, that it will always overshadow the hate. And this is not even history, this is just basic Harry Potter. But if you ever fall prey to hate or feel like my family to your country is lost in this, I just want you to know that love is always playing the bottom.”
As the clip ended, the comedian said, “You can’t hear it in the dark. You have to walk outside until the sunlight. You’ll hear it. It’s soft, but it’s not weak.”
Apart from Veer, actors Priyanka Chopra, Bhumi Pednekar, Vijay Verma and Aditi Rao Hydari also reacted to Pradhan’s resignation.
Actors Kamal Haasan and Prakash Raj stressed the relevance of democracy, dialogue and youth-led dissent.
Veteran actors Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah had also expressed support for the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
