On August 28, ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ was released in theaters.

Superhero thriller in Malayalam is rare to arrive. After the unprecedented success of ‘Minal Murali’, the style was not seen anywhere. Now, director Dominic Arun has revived it with ‘Loka Chapter 1: Chandra’. He mixes a Malayalam folklore with superhero style, which is more prevalent in the West, to give the audience the best gifts in both the world. Is ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ is a worthy addition to superhero style? Let’s know!

Chandra (Kalyani Priyadarshan), a mysterious woman with superpower, comes on a mission on a mission in Bangalore. In the city, the cases of the missing person associated with organ trafficking are faced. Chandra takes a bakery job and displays strange habits, while the three curious youths who are opposite are fascinated by him.

Sunny (Nahnan), Chandu Salimkumar (Venu), and Najil (Arun Kurien) are three friends who spend their time drinking. Inspector Nachiappa Gowda (Sandy), a corrupt police officer, is involved with Ang smuggling gang. After crossing his path with Chandra, the audience is introduced in a unique universe in two and a half hours.

The beginning of ‘Loka’ is given a mission to the lunar, which brilliantly turns into a comic-strip title card that immediately draws you into your world. When Chandra reached Bangalore, Sunny and his friends take the story forward. Sunny, especially, is eager about the lunar because he notices something else in the moon. His curiosity draws him in a problem that is older than him. Director Dominic Arun has established the world of ‘Loka’ and Chandra’s purpose (even though not widespread in the first part), and the fun lines of Sunny keep the proceedings interesting.

However, once you find out who Chandra is, the story takes a familiar path. For people familiar with superhero style, twists may not be particularly effective. But, those who are not, ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ is a world that is worth investing your time. Despite being weak, the story had many moments for solid cameos, and he worked big time.

He said, ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ you are bent due to Kalyani Priyadarshan, Nasanan and boys. His conversation is a laughter riot. Choreographer Sandy also shines in a negative role. The main grip with this film is that it leaves you with more questions. What is the purpose of the moon? What is the goal of his creed? Who are they fighting against? But, we will now have to wait for these answers until the second chapter hits theaters.

‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’ is technically luxurious. Many frames and infections by Nimish Ravi decline your jaw. The music of Chaman Chacko’s editing and musician Jake Bayuni complemented the theme of the film well.

It is a worthy addition to an Indian version of a superhero film. While the film has lines of talent, some flaws accept positivity. Nevertheless, it is a world that displays the best of both worlds.

3 out of 5 stars for ‘Loca Chapter 1: Chandra’.
