Lenovo unveils IdeaTab Pro Gen 2 with robust ThinkTab X11, SD 8s Gen 4 with battery-free mode

Lenovo has introduced two new tablets – one ready to hit the road, the other more at home in the office.

The Lenovo ThinkTab X11 is the company’s first rugged Android tablet. It is IP68-certified and MIL-STD-810H tested. Importantly, it supports battery-free mode, so it can stay docked all day or be used as a kiosk. When running on battery, the X11 has 10,200mAh in the tank.

The tablet supports 5G and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity as well as dual USB-C ports. It also has a front-mounted NFC receiver, which can make payments easier.

The tablet has a 10.95″ display and a stylus mounted on the top. The display is a 2,560 x 1,600px panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits of brightness.

The ThinkTab X11 is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Coincidentally, this is the same chipset used in Samsung’s Galaxy Tab Active5 Pro.

Lenovo ThinkTab X11 will be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa from April. The tablet will sell for €500.

The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is also a workhorse, but again better suited to office and classroom environments. It features a 13″ LCD with a 16:10 aspect ratio (3,540 x 2,190px). The panel runs at 144Hz and offers 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Normally, it outputs 600 nits of brightness but can reach up to 800 nits in high brightness mode.

The display is surrounded by four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

The Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8S Gen 4 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (there’s a microSD slot for more). It has a 10,200mAh battery with 45W charging support. The tablet comes with Android 16 and Lenovo is promising only 2 OS updates, plus 4 years of security patches.

The previous Idea Tab Pro used the Dimensity 8300 chipset and had a smaller 12.7″ 144Hz LCD. It came with Android 14 and is only on track for 2 upgrades (ie it will end up on Android 16).

The Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 is arriving later this month priced at €550. It supports the Lenovo 2-in-1 Keyboard Pack, which is sold separately, but a folio case and pen stylus are included for free.
