Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to Asha Bhosle and described her demise as the end of an era. The great singer passed away at the age of 92.

As the nation mourns the death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle at the age of 92, megastar Amitabh Bachchan has described it as the end of an era in an emotional note. The iconic singer passed away at Breach Candy Hospital on Sunday. Friends, fans and members of the film fraternity paid their last tribute to the singer at her residence in Lower Parel on Monday.

Expressing his grief, Bachchan wrote on his blog, “Sorrow and sorrow. An entire era, an incredible, an unprecedented, astonishing, eccentric, iconic, the great Asha Bhosle ji, was lost to us yesterday.”
He said, “I am deeply saddened. His versatility in giving life to every song he gave voice to has gone to heaven, leaving us an entire encyclopedia of eternal music. The body has left us but his soul will always be with us. His voice – the soul, will always be immortal.”
Bhosale was given state honours, his coffin being draped in the Indian tricolour. The public was allowed to pay homage till 3 pm, after which the funeral procession moved to the Shivaji Park crematorium, where he was cremated at 4 pm.
Asha Bhosle died due to multi organ failure After being hospitalized due to a chest infection and extreme exhaustion. He is survived by his son Anand Bhosle and granddaughter Janai. The news of his death sent a wave of mourning across the country.
