Lady Gaga teases new music era at Venice Film Festival; first single from upcoming album set to release in October

Lady Gaga’s new era of Little Monsters is arriving sooner than expected. The Grammy and Oscar winner, who is currently at the Venice Film Festival promoting her upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux , in which she stars as Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix, posted to Instagram on Tuesday, September 3, revealing the release date of the first single from her highly-anticipated seventh album.

Gaga, 38, shared a photo of her week-long schedule in the Italian city, which includes a welcome dinner, a world premiere screening of the Joker sequel, a press conference, a red carpet appearance, and a European press junket. Following the festival, the pop star’s schedule states that Joker: Folie à Deux will be released on October 4, and the first single from L.A.7 will be released sometime that month.

The Poker Face performer previously teased her upcoming musical work with a brief snippet of a song at the end of her Gaga Chromatica Ball special, released on HBO in May. She also played several pieces for fans outside her hotel during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Meanwhile, Gaga teamed up with Bruno Mars last month for a romantic ballad called ‘Die With a Smile’. The song has since peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Bruno and I have a lot of respect for each other and we’ve been talking about collaborating,” she said in a statement at the time of the duet’s release on August 16. Detailing how the collaboration came about, Gaga said the singer asked her to come to his studio to hear something he was working on. She revealed it was at the time she was finishing her own album in Malibu.

Gaga further said that it was already midnight when she got there and she was instantly stunned when she heard what the Leave The Door Open hitmaker had set out to do. According to her statement, Gaga stayed up all night with the singer and finished writing and recording the song. “Bruno’s talent is indescribable. His musicianship and vision are next level. There is no one like him,” she said.

Mars also praised the experience of working with Gaga. Calling her an “icon”, he said that her involvement in the song made it “magical”.

Prior to the song’s release, Gaga stated via Instagram that the composition was for fans to enjoy while waiting for LG 7. Chromatica, Gaga’s last studio album, was released in May 2020.
