Actress Kritika Kamra has admitted that keeping her relationship with cricket commentator Gaurav Kapoor away from the public eye was a conscious decision. She said that she wanted to share it only when she felt ready, after she was sure about the relationship and the level it had reached.

Kritika and Gaurav dated for a few years before making their relationship public in December 2025, when she posted about it on Instagram. This announcement took many fans by surprise. The couple later got married on March 11 this year in Mumbai in an intimate ceremony followed by a party.

Why did Kritika keep her relationship private?

Speaking about the decision of Hindustan TimesKritika said that this was “absolutely intentional”. She told that she is always cautious about her personal life. This is especially because she has grown up in the public space since she started acting at the age of 18. Looking back, she said that in her early years, she didn’t fully understand the impact of putting everything out in the open.

She said, “You say anything, you do anything. Everything is on the internet forever. I’ve learned it the hard way that there are some things that should just be yours. You have to protect them. In so many interviews and things, people ask me about my relationship status, when will you get married.” The actress said she wanted to wait until she was sure.

‘Hard Launch’ and announcement timing

Matka King The star said that she had decided long ago that she would make a ‘hard start’ to their relationship only when the time was right. According to Kritika, the moment came when she felt comfortable presenting that part of her life to the world. He said that once there was talk of marriage, it was no longer practical to keep it completely hidden.

He added, “Eventually, we got to the point in our relationship where I was like, ‘Okay, now I’m happy to present this part of my life to the world’ because obviously if you’re going to get married, it’s not like we’re going to run away or anything.”
