Know Nothing Phone 4, Phone 4A series in 2026 will deliver flagship-like experience, says Carl Pei
Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed that the London-based phone maker will not be releasing any flagship phones this year. Instead, the company plans to deliver a flagship experience with the Phone 4a series.

When it launched its first true flagship device, the Phone 3, in 2025, it didn’t cause much of a stir. While the phone came with some unique extras like the 3 Glyph Matrix, it also came with a starting price of Rs 79,999. However, if you’re waiting for Nothing’s next flagship device, you’ll have to wait a little longer. Carl Pei, CEO and founder of Nothing, has confirmed that the company will not release a Phone 4 this year.
Instead, the London-based phone maker will be doubling down on its midrange series this year with the Phone 4A.
Carl Pei says nothing will stop him from launching a flagship phone
In a video titled, “Nothing CEO talks about on the phone (4A).” On the company’s official YouTube channel, Carl Pei revealed that the company has no plans to launch any new flagship devices for 2026. “The first thing is that there is no new flagship this year. The Phone 3 is our flagship for 2026,” he said.
Following this surprise announcement, Pei claimed that the company is not going to launch a flagship every year, which is what other smartphone makers usually do. Nothing’s CEO explained, “We want every upgrade to feel important. So that’s a strategy we’ve had from the beginning.” He added, “And just because the rest of the industry works a certain way, doesn’t mean we’re going to do it the same way. If that were the case, why would we start this company to begin with?”
This announcement may come as a surprise. However, the Nothing Phone 3 was launched in July 2025, two years after the Phone 2.
The phone does nothing to bring the flagship experience with the 4A series
Although we won’t be getting a Nothing Phone 4 this year, it appears that the company is still working around the clock to release new devices. According to Carl Pei, the phone 4A series will get notable upgrades over its predecessor, and could offer a flagship-level experience.
Pei said, “We are going to focus on leveling up our A series with the 4A. This is our best-selling series and we are really excited to take it closer to a flagship experience, from materials, design to screens, cameras, etc.”
What to expect from the Nothing Phone 4A?
Carl Pei did not reveal much about the company’s upcoming devices. However, the Nothing CEO hinted that users can expect some big changes, including new colors and design. He said, “So, with the 4A series, that’s what we’ve done. We can expect premium materials to, uh, create new experiments in terms of color, and, uh, the overall look and feel is going to be quite interesting.”
It’s unclear how many devices we can expect in the Phone 4a series. For reference, the Phone 3a series consists of three devices – the Phone 3a Pro, the Phone 3a and the Phone 3a Lite.
