Filmmaker Kiran Rao has expressed her wish for her latest film, Missing Ladies, to be considered as India’s official entry for the 2025 Academy Awards. The director, known for her unique storytelling style, shared that it has been her long-standing dream to have one of her films represent India at the prestigious Oscars stage.
“If it is selected to go to the Oscars, it will be my dream come true,” Rao told PTI. “But it is a process, and I hope Missing Ladies will be considered. I am sure the best film will be selected, no matter what they plan to do,” the director added.
The film ‘Missing Ladies’, which has attracted attention for its unique narrative, is one of the films vying for a chance to represent India on the global stage.
Starring Nitanshi Goyal, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Ravi Kishan, the film ‘Laapata Ladies’ is based on two newlywed brides and their journey. The film was released earlier this year.
