Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth’s upcoming production has become one of the most awaited releases in the coming days. The project was recently confirmed with a grand announcement in the last week of February. Now, with expectations at an all-time high, potential filming details of the production have been highly anticipated by fans. With composer Anirudh Ravichander hinting at its possible filming plans, it appears the makers are not going for a 2026 schedule.
Anirudh Ravichander reveals shooting plans of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth starrer 2027
Speaking to India Today Digital, the 35-year-old shared what he thinks the filming schedule will be like for the project, "I think the shooting of the film will probably start next year and there is a lot of hype and buzz about it." Earlier, he along with director Nelson Dilipkumar had appeared with the two lead cast for the official first promo of the KHXRK reunion film. He released a fun clip with the background track Aaja Raja, which instantly caught the attention of thousands of people.
Anirudh Ravichander is the man behind the film’s music and expressed his happiness about working with two Indian film giants and called it a ‘surreal’ experience. He talked about growing up watching his projects and being unable to imagine working with him after so many years. This upcoming film will mark the reunion of the two actors after 47 years, who previously worked in the 1979 film, Allauddin Alabhutha Vilakkam.
With filming set to begin in 2027, the KHXRK reunion movie will likely be released next year or so. The project, financed by Red Giant Movies, is said to have a huge budget, with some reports estimating the cost at over Rs 500 crore. Out of this, the main star Rajinikanth is taking a huge amount of Rs 225 crores. All these numbers remain mere reports for now, with no confirmation from the parties involved.
The 75-year-old star will next be seen opposite Nelson in Jailer 2, which stars SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty in the lead roles along with Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who will reprise their roles. He will also shoot for Thalaivar173 from April 2026. On the other hand, Kamal Haasan will be a part of KH237 and has also started shooting for Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2.
