Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz reacts to people criticising Akshay Kumar for his film choices: ‘It’s ridiculous to ask him to prove his stardom…’

Akshay Kumar has been under fire after his string of box-office failures. His recently released film Khel Khel Mein is currently running in theatres. On the other hand, director Mudassar Aziz praised the actor and criticised people who judged him for his recent failures. The filmmaker lauded the actor’s amazing journey.

In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz slammed people who are commenting on Akshay Kumar for his recent failures. While he did not deem himself fit to respond on behalf of the actor, he called the comments “quite baseless”. He said that people who are commenting against the actor are not qualified to do so.

The director said Kumar has been in the industry for 33 years and is responsible for people’s happy memories. He highlighted the actor’s journey to becoming a self-made star, who came to Mumbai from Delhi, worked as a waiter and assisted a photographer. He added, “It’s ridiculous to ask him to prove his stardom even after 33 years.”

Mudassar praised the “intelligent” actor, saying that the actor thinks everything over, and his level of commitment leads him to make very few wrong decisions. “He smiles at all the decisions he makes, that’s the attitude I see in him. I want to be like him at the age of 57,” he remarked.

The actor got teary-eyed when he recalled talking about his “difficult times” with Kumar. He admitted that he hasn’t even seen 10 per cent of the actor’s success. According to him, the Khel Khel actor is “a cult in himself” and he finds it weird when anyone seeks justification for his stardom.

He concluded by saying, “If people can criticise him after looking at a few pages, then 33 years of experience allows Akshay Kumar to do what he wants to do. That’s all I want to say.”

Akshay Kumar is currently enjoying the release of Mudassar Aziz’s film Khel Khel Mein. The comedy-drama film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Aditya Seal, Amy Virk, Pragya Jaiswal and more, which released on Independence Day.
