Two iconic figures of Tamil cinema, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, will share the screen again after almost five decades, with a vintage-themed promo video to be released on Saturday.
After almost five decades, Tamil cinema’s biggest icons are all set to share the screen again. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are officially reuniting for a new film, marking their first on-screen collaboration in 47 years. The makers confirmed the development on Friday, announcing that the first promo video of the film will be released on Saturday at 12:07 pm.
The announcement was also accompanied by an attractive poster that immediately caught the attention of fans, which was shared by the film’s official composer Anirudh Ravichander. Featuring only the hands of two men wearing full-sleeved leather jackets, a gold watch and a ring, the visual leans heavily on a vintage aesthetic. The caption, ‘Cool retro swag’, gives a hint as to what kind of vibe the makers are creating for this much-awaited project.

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were last seen together in the 1979 fantasy film Alauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum. Before this, they had shared screen space in several now-classic films Apoorva Ragangal, avargal, Moondru Mudichu And Pathinaru Vayathinile. Their reunion has long been a wish among cinephiles, making this announcement a historic moment for Tamil cinema.
Although the makers have not yet officially announced the director, buzz in the industry is that Nelson Dilipkumar may helm the project. Nelson previously worked with Rajinikanth on Jailer and is currently working on jailer 2. Official confirmation is expected with the release of the promo video.
The music for the film is expected to be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, further adding to the excitement around the project.
