Kendall Jenner recently opened up about her life in the spotlight and her experiences as a teen model on the Anything Goes podcast. “It’s kind of like being a little bit Hannah Montana in a way,” the 28-year-old model told Emma Chamberlain, but there was no secret identity or disguise involved like the Disney Channel character. “I didn’t wear any disguises, or I didn’t do any physical modifications,” Jenner said.
Jenner explained how despite being on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, she and her siblings tried to live a normal life. They went to regular school for as long as possible and only switched to homeschooling for their junior and senior years. “I started home school in 11th and 12th grade, so even though we had a TV show going on at our house, we were going to regular school all day and had friends that were with us before the show started,” she shared.
Jenner emphasized that although her life was unusual, it felt somewhat normal, and she is grateful for that. “We lived as normal a life as I could, and I’m very grateful for that,” she said in the interview.
Kendall was just 10 years old when the show began in 2007. She explained that she and her younger sister Kylie “had to take on adult responsibilities at a very young age.” Although Kendall is grateful for the experience, she says it could have been worse.
Since starting her modeling career as a teenager, Kendall has admitted that she’s been very lucky in the industry. While her experience has been largely positive, she has also faced challenges. “But I’ve also had my challenges, whether it was (being overworked) or not getting a job that I really would have loved,” Jenner told the outlet.
She admitted that travelling alone for work as a teenager can be lonely and difficult. Kendall recalled days when she would cry herself to sleep in different cities, feeling isolated from family and friends.
Despite these struggles, Jenner appreciates her journey and the opportunities she has received and recognizes that her challenges are part of a larger, more complex experience.
