FBI Director Kash Patel’s girlfriend Alexis Wilkins has once again come out in his defense and announced that she did not take any payment for singing the national anthem at the Freedom250 fair. The 16-day program began on Wednesday at the National Mall in Washington ahead of the country’s 250th Independence Day on July 4.Many artists and performers declined to participate in the festival, including Morris Day and the Time, rapper Young MC, Milli Vanilli’s Jody Rocco, country singer Martina McBride, The Commodores, and former Poison frontman Bret Michaels.But country music singer Alexis’ performance sparked a wave of criticism and suggestions that she got the chance to perform at the event only because she is Patel’s girlfriend. “You can hear a better presentation at any high school ball game,” one X user wrote, while another said: “They didn’t allow autotune this time?”Another wrote, “The good news is that when I see this it’s 11pm and I’ve already taken out my hearing aids for the night.”“Is it a violation of federal ethics law to receive payment by taxpayers for appearances on the FBI director’s girlfriend?”. Sarah Higdon posted to which Alexis chose to respond – to end the speculation and abuse.Wilkins wrote of her singing, “I’ve been a country music artist for years. I’ve had a successful career in both music and commentary/strategy. People can’t deny it for clicks or headlines. I was invited to sing this song on my own, as I have in many other places during my career.”“I am not accepting payment for this great honor,” the 27-year-old singer wrote about the ‘taxpayer’ part. The entire Freedom250 celebration is based on raising money; neither the UFC nor any National Mall event is “taxpayer funded.”“I am no longer accepting false stories and completely specious accusations that diminish my hard work and earned accomplishments, so please expect this type of response to continue,” Wilkins said in a warning message.Alexis Wilkins has been associated with controversy since the beginning of Patel’s tenure as FBI chief. Their relationship went under the radar due to the age difference and Wilkins was accused of being an Israeli spy. The movements of Patel’s jet were also investigated to ascertain whether Patel was traveling for work or personal reasons.
