Suriya starrer Karuppu is not yet released in theaters even though its initial release date was announced a long time ago. With fans eagerly waiting for updates, director RJB (RJ Balaji) has put the speculations to rest with a new post shared on Pongal.
RJB confirms Karuppu release update with second single
In a new social media post, RJB revealed that for quite some time now, the Karuppu team has only been releasing posters related to the festival, with no updates on the release of the film. He clarified that there would be no Pongal special poster announcing the release date, and instead the update would come with the second single of the film.
The filmmaker said, “Here’s some good news for cinema fans, Suriya fans and all those waiting for updates on Karuppu. There will be no Pongal-special poster from us today. We have already released several posters for various festivals and occasions, and that will stop now.”
“The other good news is that the release date update will come with the second single of the film. Apart from that, there will be no further promotional material from the Karuppu team. Whenever it comes out, Karuppu will be something that you all will enjoy. That’s what we’re striving for, and we’re sure you’ll love it.”
The actor-director also wished everyone a happy Pongal.

Karuppu is said to be the story of a lawyer who gets possessed by a deity to fight against the injustice done to certain sections of the society. Apart from Suriya, the film also stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrans, Naty Subramaniam, Swasika, Shivada, Anagha Maiya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, Yogi Babu and many others in lead roles. Additionally, RJB himself will make a guest appearance.
Earlier there were speculations that the film could be released in February 2026, but no official confirmation has been made.
Surya’s upcoming movies
Looking ahead, Suriya will continue his projects with the tentative title Suriya46, directed by Venky Atluri. The upcoming film is touted to be an emotionally driven drama, starring Mamita Baiju and Raveena Tandon in the lead roles.
Apart from this, Suriya has also started work on his police action-comedy, tentatively titled Suriya47. Directed by Awesham fame Jeethu Madhavan, the film will star Nazriya Nazim Fahadh in the lead role, with Neslen playing a pivotal role.
