Kamal Haasan is ready to hit the big screen with his upcoming film, Thug Life on 5 June 2025. However, as an experienced actor has told about his recent comment about Kannada language, the Culture Minister of Karnataka has called for a complete ban on his films.
According to Hindustan Times, Minister Shivraj Tangdgi said, “I have written a letter. After that, the film Chamber of Commerce also took a good decision and held a press meeting yesterday, stating that if he does not apologize in two days, his film will be banned.”
He said, “We will not allow his films to be released. If he does not apologize. No light remarks against Kannada will be tolerated. If he does not apologize, we will take our decision,” he said. The minister also mentioned that he has requested actor Shiv Rajkumar to talk to Kamal Haasan about the issue.
For reference, the minister’s comment has recently been during the launch of the thugs life audio about Kannada language from Kamal Haasan’s recent comments. In this program, the actor said that Kannada was born from Tamil, suggesting that two languages are like a family – one claim that many people were criticized in Karnataka.
When asked if he was asked if he would apologize for a statement, Kamal Haasan replied, “I have been threatened first. If I am wrong, I will apologize; if not, I will not. It’s not my lifestyle; please don’t tamper with it.”

Subsequently, Haasan’s KH237 is expected to headline, a project played by the famous action choreographer Duo Anbarivu.
