Kantara 2: Rishabh Shetty in trouble; Complaint filed against crew for ‘destroying forest area’ by using explosives during shooting

Rishabh Shetty has several upcoming projects, including the prequel to his National Award-winning film Kantara, titled Kantara Chapter 1. A major portion of the film is being shot near a forest area in Karnataka. Unfortunately, the film has now stirred trouble and controversy, as locals have filed complaints against the makers.

According to a report in India Today, locals, including a former district panchayat member, have accused the film crew and team of disturbing the environment and forest area of Gavigudda near Heruru village in Karnataka.

A complaint was filed at the Yeslur police station accusing the makers and crew of expanding their shooting location near the main forest while only allowing shooting within the grassland area.

Use of explosives has also been reported during the shooting and has now sparked outrage and concern among the local people for fear of endangering the wildlife species for whom the forest area is their home.

District Panchayat member Sanna Swamy has issued a statement in this regard, revealing how the local people are constantly battling elephant attacks due to the disturbing filming activities.

Additionally, India Today report also mentions the escalated conflict between the film crew and the local people when the film crew came face to face over the use of explosives inside the forest area during the shooting of Kantara Chapter 1.

The dispute resulted in a local youth being seriously injured after being attacked by a crew member. The former had to be immediately admitted to the hospital.

Locals have expressed displeasure over the shooting of the film and demanded that it be completely shifted to a new location, along with strict action be taken against the crew for their indecent behaviour.
