Actress Kangana Ranaut on Thursday announced that her film Emergency has finally been cleared for screening by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In a post on The actress also thanked her fans and well-wishers for their support and love.

He wrote on social media, “We are happy to announce that we have received the censor certificate for our film Emergency, we will announce the release date soon. Thank you for your patience and support.”

The decision comes days after reports that Zee Studios, the production company backing the film, had told the Bombay High Court that they had agreed to make all the amendments and deletions suggested by the board’s revision committee .

The board released around 13 cuts and changes in the film and passed the content with a U/A certificate. The review committee asked the producers to comply with the changes and obtain a certificate for its release in theatres. The list of cuts included removing some violent scenes and a dialogue referring to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as a ‘saint or saint’. The decision was taken following multiple complaints from several Sikh groups alleging that the film showed the Sikh community in a bad light.

Earlier, sources close to the film had exclusively told India Today Digital that the makers will release Emergency after the Punjab elections in November. The source said, “After agreeing to all the terms and conditions of the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification), the team will probably release the film after the Punjab elections. The film is really close to everyone’s heart and the audience should get a chance to watch it.” ” So, after a lot of consideration and in order not to hurt anyone’s sentiments, the entire team decided that once the elections are over, they will decide on a suitable day and release the film at a calmer time.”

The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 6 this year. Based on the period of Emergency in India from June 1975 to March 1977, Emergency is directed by Kangana. She is also playing the role of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi in the film. The actor is also joined by Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Milind Soman, Mahima Choudhary and late actor Satish Kaushik in Emergency.
