On June 4, 11 people were killed in a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The incident took place during the IPL Vijay Utsav of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Kamal Haasan, R Madhavan, Sonu Sood and other celebs of the film industry expressed their concern for ‘distressed’ and expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.

Hasan wrote, “Dil ditch in Bangalore.

Madhavan, known for his work in many Telugu and Hindi films, called the incident ‘heartbreak’. He wrote on his Instagram story, “It is very heartbreaking. Heartfelt condolences to bereaved families. Please be responsible and safe and do not respond to rumors without investigating with the authorities (SICs).”

Actor Vivek Oberoi made a note on X, in which he expressed his ‘deep grief’. His post read, “The deepest grief fills us because we mourn the life -long life in the Bengaluru stampede. It is actually sad to lose loved ones, especially there should have been a moment of collective bliss in cricket (SIC).”

The Post further read, “For families and friends, we are now facing this unimaginable zero, our hearts hurt with you. We send our deep condolences and heartfelt support, hope you find something consolation between this deep sorrow. May strength and peace can happen to you.”

Actor Sonu Sood, who is known for his philanthropic work, also wrote on X: “Heartbreak by Tragedy during the IPL celebrations in Bangalore. No celebration is worth a life; prayers for families and all affected for families (SIC).”

The Karnataka government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of those who died during the stampede, and also ordered a magisterial inquiry. However, the Chief Minister of the state, Siddaramaiah denied that the state had made any request about the ceremonies and made the incident ‘smooth’.

Addressing the media about the incident, he said, “This is not us. We did not request RCB and KSCA about the celebration. He organized it. We felt that the government should facilitate. It should be a convenience to the government. Just because it was a Bengaluru team, we felt that we should celebrate.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court has tried a stampede with a stampede with a hearing for 2:30 pm today.
