Veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan congratulated the Dalai Lama after the Tibetan spiritual leader won his first Grammy award at the age of 91. The Dalai Lama was honored in the Best Audio Book, Narration and Storytelling Recording category for his spoken word album. Reacting to the win, Kamal Haasan shared a thoughtful message to X celebrating the achievement. Congratulating the Grammy Awards and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, he wrote, “Proud to see one of the world’s thought leaders join the prestigious league of artists. Yes. Words can add more meaning to the music of this world.” Kamal Haasan said the Dalai Lama does not need praise, urging people to be happy, pray for truth to prevail and share in the joy of the moment.

The Grammy-winning album blends the Dalai Lama’s reflections with classical and contemporary music, and includes collaborations with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Khabir Sehgal, Aman Ali Bangash, Andra Day, Ayaan Ali Bangash, Debbie Nova, Maggie Rogers, Rufus Wainwright, Ted Nash, Tony Sukkar and Joe Alterman. The project conveys a message of peace and awareness with a blend of spoken word, wisdom and music.

At the awards ceremony, it emerged victorious over other nominees in the album category, including Kathy Garver.
