Kamal Haasan on friendship with Rajinikanth: There is competition, but no jealousy
Kamal Haasan recently spoke openly about his old friendship with Rajinikanth in an interview. He admitted that they are competitors, but they never made any harsh comments about each other.
Kamal Haasan in a recent interview spoke about his friendship with Rajinikanth and how they had laid down rules for each other in the early days of their careers. They have a common mentor, K Balachander, who is one of the iconic filmmakers of Tamil cinema. He revealed that they share a great bond and have supported each other’s work over the years.
In an interview the ‘Vikram’ actor said, “This is not a new combination. We have done many films together. Then we decided not to work together. We are not like two competitors. We had the same guru. Unlike any other place, here the competition is openly there. But there is no jealousy, and these are two different paths.”
Talking about their relationship, he said, “We never make nasty comments about each other. We took this decision when we were 20 years old; it’s not like we have become older and wiser now.”
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth first worked together in K. Balachander’s film ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ in 1975. After this, they worked in many films like ’16 Vayathinile’, ‘Ninaithale Inikkum’.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan is awaiting the release of his upcoming film ‘Indian 2’, directed by Shankar. The film is set to release in theatres on July 12 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. The makers are planning to release ‘Indian 3’ six months after the second part.
Rajinikanth will next be seen in director TJ Gnanavel’s ‘Vettaiyaan’. The film will hit the theatres on October 10 along with Suriya’s ‘Kanguva’. He will also start shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Coolie’ in July.
