‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is expected to perform unexpectedly at the box office. The Prabhas starrer is set to earn big on its first day worldwide, and is likely to become the third-highest Indian opener globally once it releases on Thursday, June 27. As per early trade reports, it will cross the Rs 200 crore mark globally. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it is touted to be a genre-defining cinema by combining science-fiction and Indian mythology.

‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is currently doing well in terms of advance booking. Report published on trade website Saconilc It is being said that it can earn Rs 60-70 crore on the first day in the overseas market, which will be a new record in itself. The pre-sales business is showing better signs than ‘Salaar-Part 1: Ceasefire’. This means that with the right push on the first day, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ will be able to replace the Prashanth Neel directed film and register the third biggest opening for an Indian film. ‘Salaar’ earned Rs 165.3 crore, while KGF 2 is right behind with an opening of Rs 162.9 crore. Only ‘RRR’ and ‘Bahubali: The Conclusion’ are ahead of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ in the list.

Interestingly, Prabhas is the only Indian actor to have four Rs 100 crore openings at the worldwide box office. His previous films – ‘Baahubali 2’, ‘Salaar’, ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Saaho’ – all grossed over Rs 100 crore on their opening day worldwide.

Considering the massive buzz that ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is receiving, its opening day business in India is expected to be between Rs 120-140 crores, with the Telugu market alone earning Rs 90-100 crores. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala are expected to add another Rs 15+ crores to its opening day collections, while the Hindi market will account for Rs 20 crores.

Apart from Prabhas, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in important roles. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is releasing on June 23.
