Kalki 2898 AD earned around Rs 21 crore on its second Friday at the Indian box office, taking its total collection to Rs 490 crore in nine days. The film will hit the Rs 500 crore milestone today, becoming the tenth film to do so. Seeing a massive rise in its collections today, it is estimated to earn Rs 95-100 crore in the second weekend, taking its total collection to around Rs 565 crore by the end of Sunday.
Yesterday, the collections saw a 25 per cent drop compared to Thursday, with almost all of it coming from the Telugu states, while other regions maintained similar numbers as on Thursday. The drop in the Telugu states was due to two reasons: a) Thursday was a holiday as schools were closed and b) ticket prices in Telangana returned to normal levels, leading to a drop in ATP by about 25 per cent. As a result, collections in Nizam fell from Rs 6.25 crore on Thursday to Rs 3.25 crore on Friday. In contrast, ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh remained at elevated levels and will remain so for the second week as well.
Despite the drop, Kalki achieved two benchmarks in the Telugu states; Nizam crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and APTS touched the Rs 200 crore milestone. The Prabhas starrer is only the fourth film to do so after Baahubali 2, RRR and Salaar.
