Kal Ho Na Ho starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Saif Ali Khan continues to perform well at the box office even after its re-release. Originally released in 2003, this cult romantic drama has already collected Rs 3 crore in 10 days of its re-release.
Kal Ho Na Ho scored well in the second weekend; Added Rs 1.13 crore
Directed by Nikhil Advani, Kal Ho Na Ho performed better than its opening weekend in the second weekend. The film saw a growth of 30% in the last three days and added Rs 1.13 crore.
The much-hyped romantic drama grossed Rs 77 lakh in its opening weekend and went on to earn Rs 1.25 crore on weekdays and ended its opening week in India with an impressive figure of Rs 2.02 crore. The film entered its second weekend earning Rs 17 lakh on the eighth day (second Friday). On the 9th day it saw a significant growth of 164% and earned Rs 45 lakh. Additionally, it ended its second weekend above Rs 1 crore by adding another Rs 51.50 lakh on the 10th day.
After the end of the second weekend, the total collection of Kal Ho Naa Ho in India is currently Rs 3.15 crore.
Kal Ho Naa Ho is poised to emerge as a successful re-release
Interestingly, Kal Ho Na Ho recorded its biggest day at the Indian box office on the 10th day (2nd Sunday) of its re-release. Additionally, it performed better than Karan Arjun, which was re-released in India this weekend. For the record, Rakesh Roshan’s film collected Rs 1.08 crore this weekend, while Kal Ho Na Ho collected Rs 1.13 crore.
With such strong trends, the Shah Rukh Khan-Saif Ali Khan film is all set to join the other successful re-releases this year. However, it will be interesting to see how far the film can go from here. The successful re-release of Kal Ho Na Ho is a testament to the 21-year-old film, its timeless music and the fan following of Shah Rukh Khan himself.
