Famous film director Nikhil Advani is popular for directing the film Kal Ho Na Ho released in 2003 backed by Karan Johar. During a recent interaction, the filmmaker recalled his differences with Johar after the film’s success and also opened up about his fights with the likes of Anil Kapoor, Govinda and John Abraham.
Recently, during a conversation with Digital Commentary, Nikhil Advani remembered the fight he had with Karan Johar after the release of Kal Ho Na Ho. He recalled that he became upset and left the production house after feeling “confused and angry”. He told that some people were saying that he had directed the three biggest hits of Dharma Productions, while a section was arguing that he had not even directed KHNH.
Looking back at the conflict, he said that they are still close, and that they have “fortunately” left everything behind. He said that both of them have grown up and can differentiate between films and life.
“I was very close to his father. It wasn’t a creative conflict; it was an emotional conflict. ‘How can you listen to other people saying that about me?’ My whole thing was that people are not giving me credit for one love story, so I will make six love stories,” he said.
He further said that after Salaam-e-Ishq failed at the box office, he feared that he would be out of work. Due to this pressure, he agreed to work in Chandni Chowk to China.
The filmmaker further talked about relationships within the industry and also talked about the relationships of Ajay Devgan-Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan; He was honored by being called “Indivisible”.
Comparing his equation with John Abraham, with whom he has collaborated in films like Veda and Batla House, Advani said there was a period of three years when people stopped picking up his calls because his films were not working. Were.
“John and I parted ways for a few years… I didn’t talk to Anil Kapoor for 10 years, I didn’t talk to Govinda for 10 years… When John and I meet, we talk about films or the industry. I don’t talk.” , We talk about football, politics, food, animals, fitness,” he said.
Nikhil Advani’s last directorial venture Veda, starring John Abraham, was released in 2024.
